City's Hottest July Was In 1915, But Record May Be Broken This Week.
Chennai may have experienced the coolest May in a decade, but summer seems to have returned to bite the city with vengeance. Last week, the mercury levels breached the 40°C mark thrice, recording the hottest July in 10 years. On Sunday, the temperature touched 40.5°C, inching past the previous highest recorded in July in a decade -40.3°C in 2006.
